Police investigate homicide in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF –- On March 20th, 2022, at approximately 1:00 AM, Police responded to 2 N. Leroux, Collins Irish Bar for a report of a large crowd physically fighting which turned into a shooting.

When they arrived, officers located a subject in the street who had been shot. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Frankie James Jackson, of Flagstaff.

The shooter was taken into custody and identified as 26-year-old Treysean Michael Anthony Ware of Flagstaff. Witnesses indicated that an altercation between Treysean and Frankie took place outside of Collin’s where Treysean pulled a gun on Frankie and shot him twice. Frankie was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center Emergency where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Treysean has been arrested on charges of 2nd Degree Homicide, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon and drug charges. This investigation is ongoing; however we are not actively seeking any additional suspects. There were no additional injuries reported in this altercation.

Man shot and killed near Flagstaff Walmart

FLAGSTAFF — At about 2:06 this morning, Ashley Martin entered the Walmart on South Woodlands Village Boulevard and asked employees to call the Flagstaff Police. When police arrived, Ms. Martin informed them that she had shot someone.

According to the police report, she led officers to the nearby urban trail between Walmart and Beulah Blvd. The woman told police that she and the man had been involved in an altercation that ended with the fatal shooting of the man identified as Travis Nelson.

The woman was taken to the Flagstaff Police Department for questioning. Detectives responded to the scene to investigate. Ashley Martin was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.

Homicide Victim Located on Forest Service Road 776

FLAGSTAFF – On April 27th, 2021, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received information from Milwaukie Police Department in Oregon of a possible missing and endangered female traveling with a male subject last known to be in the Flagstaff area.

Working with the Milwaukie Police Department, Sheriff’s Office detectives were able to ascertain a possible location where the couple may have been camping. The area indicated was Forest Service Road 776 off Highway 89, north of Fernwood. Deputies responding to the area began contacting campers and handing out flyers of the male and female. From the flyer, a camper recognized the female and identified a camping location where the female and male subject were last seen. In investigating the location, the body of a female was found deceased. The female victim has been identified as 38-year-old Melisa Rose Wheeler, of Oregon.

Wheeler was last known to be traveling with Benjamin Mota, a resident of Oregon, on vacation. Mota returned to Oregon in the victim’s vehicle where he was taken into custody on unrelated charges. Evidence gathered during the initial investigation resulted in a 2nd Degree Homicide warrant for Mota’s arrest. Extradition efforts will be pursued. Mota is currently being held on a one-million-dollar cash bond.

Arrest Made in Blue Ridge Homicide

HAPPY JACK – On March 30 around 3:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a partially decomposed body at Bly Pit in the Blue Ridge area.

Detectives were able to make a preliminary identification of the victim as 37-year-old Tika Young of Happy Jack, Arizona. The ID is still pending by the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office.

With the preliminary identification, CCSO detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the community where they discovered evidence of a crime. During the search, they identified a person of interest. The person of interest was Patrick D. Nagel, 62-years-old of Happy Jack.

Nagal was brought into the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. During an interview with Detectives, the person admitted to striking the victim several times while the victim was lying in bed. The subject then moved the victim and concealed her in the area identified as Bly Pit where her body was subsequently found.

Nagel was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Jail for First Degree Homicide, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Abandonment/Concealment of a Dead Body, and Consuming Liquor While Operating a Vehicle.

Body Found at Bly Pit in Blue Ridge

HAPPY JACK, Arizona – On Saturday, March 30, 2019 around 3:30 pm, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a deceased body found at Bly Pit in the Blue Ridge area. Investigators responded to the scene and located the body of a female. The body had undergone some decomposition. There was no identification on the deceased person and Detectives and the Medical Examiner’s Office are working to identify the deceased. The death is being investigated as a homicide. There is no further information being released at this time.

Investigation of Homicide in Doney Park

FLAGSTAFF – Sheriff’s deputies respond to a domestic violence call at about 7 a.m. yesterday. A reporting party notified the Sheriff’s department that a male fled the scene.

The deputies found 35-year-old Crystal L. Morgan of Doney Park on the scene with several stab wounds. Medical assistance was summoned and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies sought 38-year-old Timothy M. Duran, Morgan’s ex-husband. The Sheriff’s department received information that the vehicle of the suspect was headed southbound on I-17. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted Coconino in stopping the vehicle on the I-17 at about 9:30.

Duran was booked into into the Coconino County Detention Facility on charges of First-Degree Homicide and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Crystal Morgan was transported to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office which will conduct an autopsy and further investigation to determine cause of death. The investigation is on-going.

Sheriff’s Office Investigating a Homicide of Elderly Male Whose Body was Found Near Forest Lakes

FOREST LAKES – The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the homicide of an elderly male whose body was found west of Forest Lakes, AZ.

On Sunday May 20, 2018 around 3:30 PM the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a deceased person found lying along Forest Road 512 (to Young, AZ), less than ½ mile south of State Route 260.

A deputy responded from Forest Lakes and contacted the reporting party, a couple who had been driving in that area. The reporting party said they were travelling the Young Road around 3:30 pm and observed a male lying in the dirt approximately 20 yards off the side of the road in a pull-out area. They stopped to check on the male and could see he was obviously deceased.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office responded out of Flagstaff to conduct the investigation. They found the deceased victim with severe trauma to his body and head. The victim had no identification.

Investigators and crime scene personnel from the Arizona Department of Public Safety also responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation. The victim was transported to Flagstaff where an autopsy will be conducted by the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The victim is described as a 60-70-year-old white male, about 110 pounds, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with gray hair that is longer but cut above the shoulders, gray beard and mustache, wearing a white “Head” sports polo style shirt, off white or light British tan colored shorts with a black leather belt, black socks and white New Balance tennis shoes.

CCSO seeks information about human remains

FLAGSTAFF — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a deceased body that was located near Woody Mountain Road.

On April 24 at approximately 5 p.m., Deputies received a report of human remains located near Woody Mountain Road. The remains had been found by a sportsman driving in the area. The body could not be immediately identified due to exposure to the elements, but detectives believe the deceased person to be an adult male of light complexion. It is thought the body had been in the area for several months.

Detectives are currently investigating the death as a homicide. They believe the victim was killed at another location and the body transported to the Woody Mountain Road area to be discarded.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office along with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office are attempting to identify the victim. We are seeking information from the public to help in this investigation.

Names of victims of double homicide released

WILLIAMS – The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office released what most people in Williams, sadly, already knew. The victims have been identified as the home owners, 67-year-old Michael Dimuria and his 64-year-old wife Nora Dimuria.

The investigation of a double homicide in Red Lake north of Williams is continuing. Sheriff’s detectives as well as a team from the Arizona Department of Public Safety comprised of investigators and crime scene technicians are on their second day of processing the scene. No other details are being release at this time.

The couples white 2006 Jeep Liberty 4 door bearing Arizona license plate of 123-VDL is missing from the home. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for this vehicle and to contact law enforcement immediately if they see the vehicle.

Sheriff’s Office Investigates Double Homicide

WILLIAMS – Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a double homicide in the Red Lake Community located 8 miles north of Williams AZ.

On Tuesday, May 2nd, at approximately 9:00 am the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a neighbor of the victims reporting he had found his neighbor dead. Sheriff’s Deputies from the Williams District responded to the location and upon further investigation in the residence found two deceased adults, one male and one female who had resided at the home. The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit out of Flagstaff was contacted and responded to the location.

We are asking for the public’s help in attempting to locate the couple’s vehicle missing from the home. We are looking for a 2 door, 2006 Jeep Liberty white in color, bearing AZ plate 123-VDL.
