Revival at Rodeo Barn set for tonight

WILLIAMS – Williams churches have joined together and decked out the Rodeo Barn to present the First Annual Revival Celebration with music and seven local pastors providing messages.

Pastor Joe Oswald from the First Baptist Church pointed out in one of his sermons that a revival is to revive the spirit of Christians. Anyone is welcome, however, and there will be alter calls and baptisms at the services. After the services there will be Christian fellowship. The services run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tonight through Sunday September 16.

Third Annual Route 66 Good Friday Procession draws churches together

WILLIAMS – The Third Annual Route 66 Good Friday Procession traveled down Railroad Avenue without a problem. The Williams Police Department escorted the procession to ensure the safety of participants. Traffic was lighter than usual which made the procession easier this year.The members of the community began gathering at 6:30 this year; later than previous years. Father Killian, of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church who led the procession, explained that the procession wanted to reach the Family Harvest Church at sunset.Member of the community and churches of Williams gathered about 6:30 to carry a cross to Fourth Street. The procession crossed Bill Williams Avenue to Grant Street where they turned on Grant to reach the Family Harvest Church.The community churches joined together at the Family Harvest Church for a community worship service and a reading of the Stations of the Cross.

The Procession ushers in the Easter weekend holiday. Tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Williams Recreation Center on Railroad Avenue across the street from Circle K.

Route 66 Good Friday procession this Friday

WILLIAMS – This Friday the churches of Williams gather to carry a cross down Route 66 (Railroad Avenue) in the annual Route 66 Good Friday Procession. The group will gather at the Mustang on the east end of town and travel west to Memorial Park.The churches start gathering about 5 p.m. with the procession beginning at 6:45 p.m. The Stations of the Cross will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Family Harvest Church on Grant and 7th Avenue across the street from Safeway.

The Williams PD ensures the safety of the procession each year.

The procession is sponsored by the Williams Churches, but anyone is invited to join in on the event that leads up to Easter. The churches of Williams also hold a combined worship service in the evening of the last Sunday of the month.

Methodist Church will show God’s Not Dead Friday

methodist-churchWILLIAMS — The Williams Community United Methodist Church, Pastored by Billy Martin, will show the hit movie God’s Not Dead staring Kevin Sorbo and Shane Harper. The free showing will begin this Friday at 7 p.m. and free popcorn will be provided.

The church is located at 127 West Sherman Avenue in Williams; on the corner of 2nd Street and Sherman Avenue. Tourist and visitors simply drive south on 2nd Street from Route 66 and the church will be the left side.

Methodist church celebrates St. Patrick’s day

640-StPatrick15-03-17-4WILLIAMS — the annual Saint Patrick’s day corned beef and cabbage dinner at the United Community Methodist church of Williams seem to be a big success last night. The church is led by pastor Billy Martin.

The volunteers from the congregation spent a day cooking a great meal of corned beef and cabbage, potatoes and carrots, and baking soda bread. Some volunteers donated cupcakes, cookies, brownies and desserts.

They even cleaned up afterwards.

The united Methodist church conducts this event each year in addition to their other community service. The church holds normal Sunday Services as well as Bible studies on Wednesdays. They also have a weekly dinner prior to the Bible study on Wednesday.

Methodist Church annual St. Patrick’s Day supper next Tuesday

640-Methodist-WILLIAMS – The Community United Methodist Church of Williams will hold it’s annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef supper next Tuesday. The supper will run from 5 to 7 p.m. or until they run out of food. The church is located on the corner of Sherman and 2nd Street.

This popular event includes potatoes and carrots, rolls and desserts with the traditional corned beef and cabbage. Drinks included.

Two big events on Wednesday

We’re approaching the second of four total lunar eclipses that come at half-year intervals in 2014 and 2015: a lunar-eclipse tetrad. All four can be seen from at least parts of North America.

You can wake up at about 1:15 a.m. to witness the total lunar eclipse. The penumbral eclipse begins about 1:17. During this phase, you will dark shadow move across the moon. The total eclipse, in which the moon changes color, begins about 2:18 with the maximum eclipse occurring at 3:55.

At 7 p.m. the Community United Methodist Church on Sherman Avenue and Second Street in Williams will sponsor an inspirational concert by The Steel Magnolias of San Marcos, Texas.

Methodist Church Bazaar and I-40 Rentals Car Care Clinic this weekend.

WILLIAMS—The Community United Methodist Church will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday the 23rd from 8 am to 1 pm. The Church is located at 127 W. Sherman Ave in Williams. Many vendors will be on hand and they will hold a raffle. For more information contact: Jennifer Cox at 928.635.4630

And for single women, the Williams Neighborhood Group will be holding a 3rd annual Car Care Clinic at I-40 Fleet Services located at 441 E. Route 66. They offer to top off fluids and conduct a few routine inspections which should reveal a need for any necessary maintenance. The clinic will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday the 24th.

Scouting for Food program in Williams again

WILLIAMS—The local scout troops are once again Scouting for Food to assist the Williams food bank. They are delivering bags to houses for residents to place food into. They ask that residents put food in the bag and set the bags outside on the sidewalk by 9 am this Saturday, April 13.

The troops/packs that are participating are 140 sponsored by the United Methodist Church and Lions Club and 138 sponsored by the Church of the Latter Day Saints in Williams.

During this time when there are no holidays, people tend to forget that there are still needs in our community. This is a chance to continue to help your neighbors in need.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at the Methodist Church

WILLIAMS—The Sisters in Spirit of the Community United Methodist Church in Williams will be hosting a Saint Patrick’s Day dinner at the Church in Williams on Saturday, March 16th from 5 to 7 pm for a free-will donation. The church is located on the corner of Sherman and Second Avenue.
