Pavement repair on SR 260 east of Payson for the next five weeks

PAYSON — The Arizona Department of Transportation will repair a dip in the roadway on State Route 260 eastbound near Kohl’s Ranch, approximately 19 miles east of Payson starting tomorrow between mileposts 270 and 271. Crews will be working on the roadway through Oct. 17.

Work will require the roadway to be narrowed to one lane through the work zone and a 14-foot width restriction will be in place.

Bridge work complete on SR 260 east of Payson

The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a bridge rehabilitation project on State Route 260, approximately 20 miles east of Payson and will remove all existing traffic control devices today on Monday, July 20.

Last year, ADOT upgraded five eastbound bridge approaches on State Route 260 and then returned in the spring to replace and repave three westbound bridge approaches between mileposts 272-277.

The $2.9 million improvement project included the removal of the existing bridge approaches and departure slabs, repaving the roadway at the bridge approaches, guardrail reconstruction and the replacement of existing pavement markings.

Crews will repair a dip in the roadway on SR 260 eastbound at milepost 271 starting on Monday, August 3 which will require a single lane restriction through September 11.

UPDATE: Paving project on Interstate 17 near Camp Verde ahead of schedule

CAMP VERDE — Crews have completed paving work this week at the Middle Verde Road traffic interchange on Interstate 17 (milepost 290) earlier than expected and will move to the off and on-ramps of State Route 260 (milepost 287) on Thursday, June 11 and Sunday, June 14.

In addition to work on the SR 260 interchange crews will continue paving work on northbound I-17 tonight and tomorrow, June 9 and 10 between mileposts 290 and 292. Drivers will be narrowed to one lane through the work zone during work hours.

Work hours are Sunday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

This $7.5 million project consists of the removal of a layer of the existing pavement, repaving the roadway, bridge work and shoulder improvements. Work is expected to be complete by September.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Pavement work on State Route 260 near Young Road toward Heber next week

Crews are scheduled to repair shoulders on State Route 260 on a 10-mile segment (mileposts 284 to 294) starting near Young Road heading eastbound toward Heber next week.

Work hours are Monday through Wednesday, June 8 through 10 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. Drivers will be guided through the work zone with flaggers and should expect delays of up to 10 minutes at a time.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Public Meeting for State Route 260 widening set for May 20 in Camp Verde

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, will host a public information meeting on Wednesday, May 20, in Camp Verde to discuss the upcoming State Route 260 widening project that is slated to begin in spring 2016.

The $62 million safety improvement project in Yavapai County will upgrade a nine-mile segment of SR 260 from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane, modern divided highway east of Cottonwood between Thousand Trails Road and the Interstate 17 junction in Camp Verde (mileposts 209-218).

This project is the final step in transforming SR 260 into a continuous four-lane divided highway between the I-17/SR 260 junction and Cottonwood to enhance safety and improve traffic flow for the Greater Verde Valley area, which includes the communities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Sedona and Camp Verde.

The project will include the construction of seven full-access roundabout intersections at Thousand Trails Road, Coury Drive, Cherry Creek Road, Horseshoe Bend Drive, Wilshire Road and two new locations to accommodate future traffic demands and meet the forecasted commercial and residential development in the area.

The May 20 meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. (presentation starts at 6 p.m.) at the Cliff Castle Casino Hotel, 555 Middle Verde Road in Camp Verde. Members of the project team will be available to provide information, answer questions and discuss the project.

Safety improvement project scheduled on SR 260 Wednesday

The Arizona Department of Transportation will remove dead trees from the right-of-way along a two-mile segment of State Route 260 next week in both directions (mileposts 247 to 249), approximately three miles west of the SR 260/87 junction, and eight miles north of Strawberry.

Work will begin on Monday, April 20 through Wednesday, April 22 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day.

Drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes to allow a safe work zone for maintenance crews to remove fallen trees from the roadway. Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.

For safety reasons, motorists are urged to not to stop in the tree-cutting areas to pick up the wood.

Night work scheduled this week on SR 260 east of Cottonwood

adot-logo-03aCOTTONWOOD — Night work is scheduled tomorrow and Wednesday, March 24 and 25, on State Route 260 on a six-mile segment approximately three miles east of Cottonwood between Ogden Ranch Road and Cherry Creek Road (mileposts 209 to 215) between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.

Crews are gathering soil samples along the roadway in preparation of the widening of State Route 260 between Thousand Trails and I-17. The two-lane roadway will be narrowed to one lane during work hours and drivers will be guided through the work zone with a pilot car and flaggers.

The speed limit through the work zone will be 45 mph and law enforcement will be present.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

Utility work scheduled on SR 260 east of Camp Verde tomorrow

Utility work is scheduled tomorrow on State Route 260 approximately five miles east of Camp Verde (milepost 225) between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

SR 260 will be restricted to one lane during work hours and drivers will be guided through the work zone with flaggers. Minimal delays expected.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.

Bridge work resumes on SR 260 east of Payson next week

adot-logo-03aAfter upgrading five eastbound bridge approaches on State Route 260 last fall, the Arizona Department of Transportation is returning this month to replace and repave the approaches to three westbound bridges between mileposts 272-277, approximately 20 miles east of Payson.

Motorists traveling along SR 260 should allow extra travel time and be aware that westbound traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes, which will become a two-way roadway through the five-mile work zone, beginning on Tuesday, March 24. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place throughout construction and drivers should be aware of heavy traffic during peak travel times.

Lane restrictions on State Route 260 east of Cottonwood for drainage repair

PRESCOTT – Motorists traveling on westbound State Route 260, approximately four miles east of Cottonwood at Wilbur Canyon, need to be aware that crews will begin repairs on embankments along the roadway due to recent erosion at between mileposts 209 to 210.

Work is expected to begin on Monday, Nov. 17 and will require a single lane restriction westbound only for the next three months. Work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The speed limit through the work zones will be reduced to 45 mph during work hours.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
