Navy conduct sea rescue for Rebel Heart

rebelheartThe Navy has sent the frigate USS Vandegrift to the Rebel Heart to rescue a one-year old child who fell ill on the stalled 36-foot Hans Christian boat.

At last report, the California National Guard sent rescuers who parachuted onto the vessel, but the child did not respond to medications. The child is suffering a fever and an unknown rash.

Although the boat is said to be repaired, the Vandegrift should reach the Rebel Heart by tonight or early Sunday to take the crew off of the boat. The crew consist of San Diego residents Eric and Charlotte Kaufman with their daughters, Lyra, 1, and Cora, 3.

Battlefield 4 tournament at Flag Military Surplus April 27th

battlefield-4FLAGSTAFF—Flag Military Surplus and the Phantom Gaming Society have announced a tournament based on the Battlefield 4 video game beginning at 11 am. The proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior program.

The entry fee is $20 per person and includes dog tags, free drink and lunch and an entry for a raffle for a desktop PC. The cash purse will depend on the number of entries. There will be live music with a D.J. and a dunk tank.

Other sponsors of the event include 103.7 The Eagle, GameStop, Radio Shack, CommSpeed, Coca-Cola and BTO.

Gun shows return to Coconino County Fairgrounds.

FLAGSTAFF—Arizona Collectibles and Firearms will return to the Coconino County Fairgrounds at Ft. Tuthill for two gun shows on May 17th & 18th and September 6th & 7th. The shows feature firearms, parts, ammo, knifes, militaria and much more.

The shows will run from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Gun show returns to Williams in June.

WILLIAMS—Arizona Collectibles and Firearms will return to the Williams Rodeo Barn with another gun show in June of this year.

The Williams Gun Show will be held on June 14th & 15th, 2014 at the Rodeo Barn of the Bob Dean Rodeo grounds. All Federal, State and local firearm ordinances and laws must be obeyed.

Holiness Congregation Church meets tomorrow

whs-annex-01WILLIAMS—The Holiness Congregation Church will start meeting tomorrow at 10 am at the Williams High School Annex. The annex is located at 636 south 7th street just past the high school. This church is considered Arminian-Wesleyan in nature. Pastor Cosette Riggs will officiate with the assistance of Darlene Thomas.

Pastor Riggs was trained at the Nazarene Bible College and licensed as an associate pastor with the Nazarene Church. She served as a volunteer Chaplain for a hospital, hospice and as a Police Chaplain. She was ordained by the non-denominational Holiness Congregation Church in California.

Darlene was a missionary with the Nazarene Church and her husband a Nazarene Evangelist. Darlene will use her love of singing to lead the singing of hymns and choruses of praise.

The church will pay no salaries preferring the money to go to rent and to help people in need in the community. The church invites people to join if they want to serve the Lord and reach out to the community.
