Utility work scheduled tomorrow on State Route 89 in Chino Valley

CHINO VALLEY — State Route 89, at milepost 329, near Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley will be restricted to one lane in both directions tomorrow (Nov. 10) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for utility work.

Drivers can expect minimal delays during work hours.

The closures will provide a safe work zone for utility relocations as part of an upcoming ADOT project.

ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. Law enforcement personnel will be present to enforce the closures as they occur.

Blue Buffalo Company, Ltd. Voluntarily Recalls Limited Production of Kitty Yums Chicken Recipe Cat Treats

catyums-1Blue Buffalo Company, Ltd. is voluntarily recalling a limited production of Blue Kitty Yums Chicken Recipe Cat Treats that may contain low levels of propylene glycol, which is not permitted by the FDA for use in cat food.

Cats reacting to high doses of propylene glycol may exhibit signs of depression and may have a loss of coordination, muscle twitching, and excessive urination and thirst. If your cat has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The affected product was distributed nationwide in the US and Canada through pet specialty stores and e-commerce.

The product is packaged in a 2 oz., plastic stand up pouch. Only these specific code dates of this product are involved:

* Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe, UPC: 859610007820 – Best If Used By: April 24, 2016.
* Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe, UPC: 859610007820 – Best If Used By: July 24, 2016.

No other BLUE pet foods or treats are involved in this recall.

The FDA tested product in response to a single consumer complaint and found propylene glycol in one bag of our cat treats in the impacted lot. To date we have had no other reports of incidents related to our cat treats. Out of an abundance of caution, we are voluntarily recalling all product manufactured in the same lot as the subject bag.

Consumers who have purchased the product being recalled may return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Deceased Adult Male Found near Fat Man’s Loop Trail Identified

FLAGSTAFF — The deceased man who was found near the Fat Man’s Loop Hiking Trail on Thursday, November 5 has been identified as sixty year-old Carl Lee Shetler. Investigators were not able to determine a home city or state for Mr. Shetler and he is listed as homeless/transient. Investigators have not been able to identify or locate any next of kin for the deceased victim.

At this point in the investigation Detectives believe that foul play was involved in the death of Carl Lee Shetler and the case is being pursued as a homicide. No additional details are being released at this time so as to protect the integrity of the investigation.

On Thursday, November 5, 2015 at approximately 9:10 am a woman contacted several Arizona Department of Public Safety officers on North Highway 89 and told them she found the body of a deceased person at a temporary campsite off of Fat Man’s Loop Trail. The officers accompanied the woman back to the campsite and found the body of a deceased adult white male. The AZ DPS officers contacted the Sheriff’s Office and Deputies and Detectives responded to the camp site.
