The Flagstaff Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to ARS 13-3835, the Community Notification on Sex Offender Law. The offender in this publication is living in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Notification must be made when certain sex offenders are released from the Arizona State Prison, accepted under an interstate compact or released from the county jail back into the community. Offenders are categorized into three levels; Level One (low risk to the community), Level Two (intermediate risk to the community), and Level Three (high risk to the community).

The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense, which allows for community notification. He is not wanted by the Flagstaff Police Department at this time.

This notification is not intended to increase fear: rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. CITIZEN ABUSE OF THIS INFORMATION TO THREATEN, INTIMIDATE, OR HARASS SEX OFFENDERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. SYNOPSIS: Miles was enlisted in the US Navy when his government issued computer was found to contain child pornography. Miles was sentences on 7/20/2011 by a General Court-Martial.

New Geological Analysis Greatly Bolsters Probability Tomb of Jesus has Been Found

300-4JERUSALEM /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — A recently completed study by an Israeli geologist has greatly increased the probability that an ancient tomb on the outskirts of Jerusalem is the final resting place of Jesus of Nazareth and his family.

The new findings by Dr. Aryeh Shimron have linked an ossuary, or bone box, inscribed with the phrase “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus” by its chemical “fingerprint” to a tomb encased in a rose garden between a group of nondescript apartments in Talpiot, a Jerusalem suburb. The tomb, discovered during construction in 1980, housed a remarkable collection of ossuaries upon which were inscribed several names associated with the family of the New Testament Jesus.

Although the names in the Talpiot Tomb, (which included “Jesus, son of Joseph,” “Maria,” “Mariamene,” “Yose,” and others) were common in first-century Jerusalem, a cluster of names associated with Jesus in one location is statistically compelling, and unique in the archeological evidence of his life. If yet another name associated with the New Testament family can now be sited at Talpiot, it becomes a kind of statistical snowball and creates a near-certainty that the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth has been found.

“I think I’ve got really powerful, virtually unequivocal evidence that the James ossuary spent most of its lifetime, or death time, in the Talpiot Tomb,” Shimron told the New York Times.

Local Attorneys Given the Opportunity to Advertise Services in Detention Facility

FLAGSTAFF — The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has developed a unique program by which attorneys are given the opportunity to advertise their services at the Coconino County Detention Facility.

Attorneys who choose to invest in this advertising will be able to reach out to individuals who may be in need of legal services. At the same time, an advertising purchase will assist in funding important programs in the Coconino County Detention Facility to include the Inmate Welfare Fund.

The cost of advertisement displayed in a 14” x 11” space in the detention lobby is $5,000 per year. This works out to a little more than $400 per month which is far cheaper than many other forms of advertising. The cost includes the cost of printing a color poster of personalized advertisement and the acrylic display frame with a holder for business cards.

The advertisements in the lobby can assist individuals coming into the jail lobby in connecting with legal assistance. All moneys generated from renting an advertisement space will go to the Inmate Welfare Fund which supports important programs such as Exodus (our in-custody drug and alcohol treatment program), re-entry programs, and other services that directly benefit our inmate population.

ADOT expands Authorized Third Party locations for driver services

PHOENIX — During the past several weeks, four Authorized Third Party offices have expanded their operations to offer driver license services in addition to title and registration services, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The offering of driver license services by these four sites completes the second phase of a program by the Motor Vehicle Division to help make driver services more accessible. The next two phases of this program are anticipated to be complete by the end of the year with the fifth phase completed by next January.

Once this initial expansion program is complete, customers will have 23 Authorized Third Party locations statewide they can visit for driver license, title and registration services. There are now 14 locations that offer driver license services.

“This expansion of driver license services to Authorized Third Parties is part of MVD’s commitment to make driver and vehicle services more accessible to communities across the state,” said Juan Beltran, third-party program director. “By empowering the private sector, we can give the public more options when it comes to MVD services.”

ADOT oversees the businesses to ensure that stringent operational requirements are being followed. The Motor Vehicle Division also provides Authorized Third Party employees with extensive training to ensure they can process transactions accurately.

In order to qualify to offer driver license services, an Authorized Third Party business must satisfy a list of qualifications, including road test requirements such as space in the parking lot for parallel parking or three-point turn tests as well as a proper test route.

The business must also have a designated area in the office for the written test and approved equipment to take driver license photos.

Prescribed burns planned this week

FLAGSTAFF — Fire managers are planning three prescribed burns this week in areas near Lake Mary Road, Luke Mountain and Mormon Lake basin.

Mountainaire Project: Planned ignition will be Wednesday (April 15) if conditions are suitable for burning. This burn includes approximately 550 acres along the south side of Lake Mary Road just one to two miles east of Pulliam Airport. Smoke is expected to disperse to the southeast and will be visible to those in the Flagstaff area.

Rocky Project: Planned ignition will be Thursday (April 16) or Friday (April 17), depending on weather conditions. The burn area includes 385 acres in an area near Luke Mountain that is located about 7 miles south of Munds Park on the east side of Interstate 17. Smoke is expected to disperse to the northeast away from I-17, but smoke may drift back towards the interstate during evening hours.

Mormon Lake Basin Project: Planned ignition will be Thursday (April 16) or Friday (April 17), depending on weather conditions. The burn area includes 1,000 acres in an area just west of the Village of Mormon Lake off Forest Road 219. Smoke is expected to disperse to the northeast, but settle in to the Mormon Lake area and may impact the community around Mormon Lake.

Williams Water responds quickly

Wenesday 2015-04-15 002WILLIAMS — While walking in Williams, this reporter happened upon a burst pipe at the train park on Railroad Avenue across the street from I-40 Fleet Rentals.

The burst irrigation pipe was reported at 3:33 p.m. and an investigator responded in less than four minutes. In ten-minutes, a crew was on the scene to secure the water.

It appears that the pipe had just burst and because of the quick response only about 30-gallons may have been lost, at most.

Even though the city may be in Level 1, it is important to report leaks and bursts pipes immediately to the city at 928-635-4451 so that they can be secured.

Flagstaff Police respond to Marshall Elementary School threatening call

flagstaff-policeFLAGSTAFF — Flagstaff were dispatched to Marshall Elementary School (850 N. Bonito) at about 1 p.m. today in regards to a threats call. Staff at Marshall Elementary School received a computer generated call which stated, “I am in the school and I want to kill 100’s of children.” This computer generated call was repeated several times.

Marshall Elementary School Principal John Coe initiated a lock down of the school and communicated to the Police Department as well as the surrounding schools.

Officers responded immediately to the area in conjunction with Administrative Staff from Flagstaff Unified School District. Officers conducted a room by room search of the building, including the playground and surrounding residential area with negative contact with any suspicious armed persons.

The Flagstaff Police Department are currently investigating. Last month police responded to Thomas Elementary school due to a threatened suicide.

Blue Water Navy act will expand presumption of exposure to Agent Orange

WASHINGTON — The bipartisan Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2015, H.R. 969, would include the territorial seas of the Republic of Vietnam for the purpose of presuming exposure to “certain herbicide agents” while serving in Vietnam.

The bill, with 209 cosponsors, has not moved from the the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs since March 6. The list of cosponsors is apparently growing.

The bill is intended to amend title 38, United States Code, to clarify presumptions relating to the exposure of certain veterans who served in the vicinity of the Republic of Vietnam, and for other purposes.

300agent-orangeAccording to the Vets 101 web site, the presumption of exposure to certain environmental hazards may make a veteran entitled to certain VA disability compensation and more VA health care services. The Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes several diseases which have been linked to the use of the chemical known as Agent Orange.

Agent Orange was a chemical defoliant used indiscriminately in Vietnam. At the time it was believed to be safe. An Army medic who served in Vietnam told me that they had to wear wet weather gear when the chemical was sprayed in his area of operations.

Navy personnel could have been exposed when loading and unloading the chemical on transport ships.

ISIS Camp a Few Miles from Texas, Mexican Authorities Confirm

MEXICO — Recent reports racing across the Internet indicate that ISIS has set up cells inside Mexico and that Mexican authorities are aware of their presence.

Judicial Watch reports that the ISIS terrorists are being assisted by the Mexican drug cartels. Their report states;

…cartel-backed “coyotes” are also smuggling ISIS terrorists through the porous border between Acala and Fort Hancock, Texas.

According to Judicial Watch:

ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector.

The exact location where the terrorist group has established its base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Another ISIS cell to the west of Ciudad Juárez, in Puerto Palomas, targets the New Mexico towns of Columbus and Deming for easy access to the United States, the same knowledgeable sources confirm.

During the course of a joint operation last week, Mexican Army and federal law enforcement officials discovered documents in Arabic and Urdu, as well as “plans” of Fort Bliss – the sprawling military installation that houses the US Army’s 1st Armored Division. Muslim prayer rugs were recovered with the documents during the operation.

This report should certainly shed light on one of the purposes of the Second Amendment and why “civilians” are supposed to be able to own “military-style” weapons according to Federalist Paper No. 29.
