Florida teen saves life of officer booking him.

Jamal Rutledge, 17, was sitting with his hands cuffed behind his back in a booking area of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department last September when Officer Franklin Foulks keeled over.
Surveillance footage shows the young man, who was suspected of violating juvenile probation, walk over to the locked door of the security fence and start kicking it, yelling to alert other officers that Foulks was in distress.
“The teen is being recognized with doing the right thing when presented with a challenging circumstance,” Detective DeAnna Greenlaw said in an interview with Yahoo News.

Town of Gila Bend applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.7 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the Town of Gila Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to an unnamed wash, tributary to the Gila River in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 5 S, Range 5 W, Section 26, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Town of Gila Bend WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial sources in Gila Bend.
The permit and fact sheet may be viewed online at http://www.azdeq.gov/cgi-bin/vertical.pl by typing the permit number in the box left of “Search Event”. The public notice and related documentation also are available for public review, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the ADEQ Records Center, 1110 W. Traffic shift on southbound SR 89 next week between Prescott and Chino Valley
PRESCOTT – Crews will increase construction activity next week as work progresses on the widening of State Route 89 between Prescott and Chino Valley. Starting on Monday, Jan. 19, southbound traffic will be shifted onto the new southbound roadway at the outer loop roundabout for approximately two miles.
Business access at the north end of the project will be modified as a result of the traffic shift on Monday. Southbound traffic will be required to access the businesses by using the new Kalinich Avenue roundabout. The northbound traffic access to the businesses will not be affected. Drivers exiting all businesses along SR 89 will only be permitted to turn right.
Over the next four weeks (weather permitted), drivers need to be aware of increased construction activity through the project as crews continue with pipe installations, complete the two new roundabouts (Deep Well Ranch Road and Kalinich Avenue), allow crews to finish drainage improvements and final roadway excavation.
Law enforcement personnel will be present and drivers are encouraged to adhere to the reduced speed limit and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.
Southbound I-17 narrowed one lane overnight at SR 169 junction
Southbound Interstate 17 will be narrowed to one lane overnight at the State Route 169 junction, tonight and tomorrow, Jan. 15 and 16 as the Arizona Department of Transportation completes bridge maintenance work south of Camp Verde.
Normal work hours are Sunday through Thursday through the end of this month between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. daily.
A 12-foot width restriction will be in place as work occurs.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
Approved driving schools to issue certificates to skip license exams at MVD offices
PHOENIX – Students who undergo training at state-approved driving schools will now be able to receive training completion certificates that may waive written and road tests at Motor Vehicle Division offices.
However, there are requirements that driving-school students must meet, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
In order to qualify, students must be Arizona residents and attend classes at an ADOT-contracted driving school. A minimum of 30 hours of classroom training is required to waive the written exam and at least 10 hours of behind-the-wheel training is required to skip the road exam.
“Our top priority is safety,” said Motor Vehicle Division Director Stacey Stanton. “Through this program, we’re partnering with the private sector to encourage new drivers to get as much professional instruction as necessary until they can safely drive on their own. We hope more drivers will utilize these training opportunities.”
While most students who present training completion certificates at Motor Vehicle Division offices will get their instructional permit or driver license at that time, some certificate holders will be randomly selected to take the written or road exam at the Motor Vehicle Division office.
This random testing will be used to gauge the quality of instruction being given at the driving schools. Certificate holders should come to the Motor Vehicle Division office prepared to take the written or road exam in case they are selected.
A list of approved driver training schools is available at azdot.gov/drivingschools. There are more than 50 ADOT-approved schools across the state.
This initiative is one way, in addition to Authorized Third Party offices that provide a variety of motor-vehicle services, that ADOT is working to decentralize services, making them more accessible to community members around the state by engaging the private sector.
Enhancing driver training, and providing opportunities for ADOT-approved driving schools to issue certificates of completion to potentially bypass Motor Vehicle Division office testing, is an action step in ADOT’s new Strategic Highway Safety Plan.
Marvin Curley Pleads Guilty to 1st Degree Murder of David Allen Christine
FLAGSTAFF – On Tuesday, January 13, 2015 Marvin Curley entered a guilty pela to the first Degree Murder of David Allen Christine in Coconino County Superior Court Division 3. Superior Court Judge Mark Moran sentenced Marvin Curley to natural life in prison.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at about 5:30 a.m. the Flagstaff Police Department/Coconino County Sheriff’s 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a motorist who was traveling on Leupp Road (FS 505). According to the reporting party, he was in the area located just east of Star School when he observed what he believed to be a body off of the roadway in the dirt.
During the initial investigation a detective who was at the scene observed indications of foul play. There were no forms of identification on the victim, and detectives received information causing them to believe the individual frequented several homeless shelters in Flagstaff. Investigators interviewed multiple clients of several homeless centers in Flagstaff in an attempt to identify the victim but met with no results.
Fingerprints were taken from the deceased and with the assistance of the United States Marshals Office the prints were submitted to a federal forensic laboratory that provides results in a short period of time. The results of the fingerprint analysis identified the body to be that of 56 year-old David Allen Christine of Flagstaff. Subsequently Flagstaff Police Officers located a white Plymouth mini-van registered to the victim parked outside a local motel. During the investigation Detectives identified and interviewed several investigative leads that developed Marvin Curley as a possible suspect. A combination of statements made and evidence collected and analyzed lead to the arrest of Marvin Curley.
Missing Person Cynthia Wilder Located
FLAGSTAFF – Sixty one year-old Cynthia Wilder who was reported as a missing person in the Timber Line neighborhood was located today at about 2:00 pm. in good condition. Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to track Cynthia to a location in the Area of the Flagstaff Mall but lost sight of her tracks at that point. At this point search efforts were focused within the jurisdictional boundaries of Flagstaff. At 1:53 pm Flagstaff Police Chief Kevin Treadway spotted Ms. Wilder at the O’Rellys Auto part store on West Highway 66 and made contact with her.
County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives are requesting assistance from the community in locating sixty one year-old Cynthia Wilder of Flagstaff, Arizona who was last seen at 5:00 am today at her home located in the Timberline Neighborhood. Ms. Wilder reportedly suffers from Dementia and at times becomes very confused and disoriented.
Cynthia Wilder is described as a sixty one year old white female approximately 5’1” in height and weighing approximately 105 pounds. She has blue eyes and red/gray hair and wears prescription glasses. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown sweater with thin blue stripes, Sorel type snow boots and a light brown Shearling type coat with a white lamb’s wool lining.

Oxford University Press sure to please McCain
John McCain has long opposed returning tax dollars to Arizona in the guise of fighting pork. He prefers to let others in Congress return tax dollars to their States.
According to Fox News a report out of England should please the Senator. The Oxford University Press warned its authors not to write about bacon and pork in order to avoid offending Muslims. The move by the largest university book publisher was revealed on a BBC Radio 4 program discussing free speech in light of the terrorist attack on Charle Hebdo magazine in Paris.
Sun News reported that a spokesperson to RT.com said:
the books needed to be “acceptable in other cultures” for them to be exported. The books, which are sold in over 150 countries, need to “consider a range of cultural differences and sensitivities.”
Oddly enough the idea has been attacked by both Jews and Muslims. Both Judaism and Islam abhor eating pork. Muslim labour MP Khalid Mamood is quoted as saying it is absolute and utter nonsense.
Pork is, of course, the product of pigs and made into a variety of products. Ham and bacon is the most popular.
Bacon is made out of other meats, such as turkey and chicken. Pork bacon is still the most popular. Pork bacon is used at breakfast and on a number of fast foods such as bacon cheeseburgers. Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches are a popular fare in many parts of the United States and United Kingdom. Ham is another product of pork which is a popular addition to meals. The ham is a popular addition to the Christmas holiday in the form of the Christmas ham. Pork is also used as a supplement to beans.
There are a number of pork recipes which call for pork as a main dish. Pulled pork, pork stir-fry and pork tenderloin. Pork chops have always been a popular Sunday dish.
Apparently Oxford University Press will no longer publish books on farming.
