Government Bullies vs. The Grove and Cheba Hut

Last month when the Daily Sun published an article about a party at the Grove Student Housing Complex that was “totally out of control” I knew that there had to be an ulterior motive behind it. After all, the moment police showed up the party dispersed and only a handful of drunk in public arrests were made. No force was used to break up the party. Hardly sounds uncontrollable to me.

Adding to the misinformation was a report released by Flagstaff PD that said 750-1,000 students were at the party. My sources tell me that in reality there were only 200-300 people there. The extent that Flag PD and the Daily Sun were going all out to villainize The Grove had me scratching my head for a reason.

I believe I found the motive when I attended last night’s Flagstaff City Council meeting. …

Matthew M. Figueroa Promoted to Commander of Detention Services

640px-FigueroaFLAGSTAFF – Coconino County Sheriff Bill Pribil is pleased to announce that Lieutenant Matthew M. Figueroa has been promoted to the position of Commander of Detention Services for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). Matthew was one of several nationwide candidates who were selected to participate in the intensive testing and interviewing process. In addition, three other CCSO Detention Staff members also completed the testing and interview process. Sheriff Pribil said, “All of our candidates were highly qualified and represented the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at the highest level. I wish to thank all of the candidates for their professionalism and leadership. Matthew Figueroa has served our agency for 18 years and brings a depth of knowledge and experience to the position of Commander of Detention Services.”

Matthew lives in Flagstaff with his wife Kimberly and their three sons Tyler, Tristen and Trace. He began his formal education at Arizona State University and transferred to Northern Arizona University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

Matthew’s family has a strong commitment to the corrections profession. His father and his brother both retired from the Arizona Department of Corrections. He joined the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office in 1996, attended the state Correctional Officers Academy and began his career as a Detention Officer I. He served one year in that capacity and was then promoted to the position of Detention Officer II. While a detention officer, Matthew served as a court officer, transport officer, and he also worked in the intake and inmate housing operations. He served as a Detention Sergeant for 8 ½ years and then as a Detention Lieutenant for the past 8 years during which time he managed all aspects of the day to day operations of the Detention Facility.

In 2000 Commander Figueroa was assigned to the team that facilitated the transfer from the old jail located in downtown Flagstaff to the new facility located at 911 Sawmill Road. He assisted with the recruitment, screening and hiring of new detention staff as the demand for detention officers in the new facility was double the amount of officers who staffed the older facility. He was assigned to the construction site six months prior to the completion date and helped insure that all aspects of the project met specifications.

Prior to 2004, Detention Officers were required to attend a six to seven week Correctional Officers Academy at one of several locations throughout the state. This required the officers to be away from their homes and their families for an extended period of time. Lodging and other expenses proved to be quite costly to the Sheriff’s Office. In 2004 Matt led a team that developed a partnership with the Coconino Community College to develop a curriculum for an accredited basic detention officers’ academy. Students who complete the program not only not only are developed for their new job, they also receive 13 credit hours of college instruction which they can apply to professional development. The establishment of a local Detention Officer Academy represented a significant savings to the Sheriff’s Office and prevented participants from being separated from their homes and families, and also instills officers with long term career opportunities.

In 2012 Commander Figueroa attended and successfully completed a 40 hour National Jail Leadership Command Academy for jail commanders at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas. This training is accredited by the American Jail Association and Correctional Management Institute of Texas. Matt also is nationally recognized as a Certified Jail Manager by the American Jail Association.

During his career Matt has received numerous recognitions and accolades for his dedication and service above and beyond the call of duty to include four National Public Service Recognition Awards, a Sheriff’s Citation for Meritorious Service, an Officer Achievement Award, Officer of the Year award and many others.

Commander Figueroa’s career certainly is in line with and exemplifies many of the goals and philosophies of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office mission, vision, and values. We look forward to his continued participation in the leadership and future of our organization and service to the community.

Not one of the trifecta publicly seen as the political leaders of the Democrat Party; Reid, Pelosi, and Obama never knew who Gruber was. The incredible, consistent, sociopathic lying by these three would be horribly appalling if it were not so damn serious. The sociopathic lying by Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, if not called-on and checked by someone who has the platform by which to do so, will collapse this nation. The American People shouted loudly a couple of weeks ago: “STOP!” The American People overwhelmingly shouted: “SAVE OUR COUNTRY!” The American People shouted at the polling booths: “STOP the transformation of our country; STOP the Marxism dressed-up in all sorts of rags to make it look appealing!” The American People gave the Republican Party grand permission to STOP Reid, Pelosi, and Obama and call them on all their lies!”

Reid, Pelosi, and Obama are racing all over the place telling anyone who will listen, “I (We) didn’t know Gruber, or “he was not on staff” or other lies, lies, lies! STOP IT!! Someone needs to wash their mouths out with soap!! Sociopathic liars all. Just look at the youtube site below where…you guessed it, Reid is praising Gruber all over the place. Obama doesn’t know him, but he was in private meetings in the Oval with Obama. Gruber made close to $6-million dollars being paid to be this all-knowing, all-wise, political and economic consultant, as well as health-care expert. ENOUGH! Enough lies and other sociopathic behaviors. ENOUGH!

Harry Reid is all over the place claiming he doesn’t know Gruber. Well, heck, Harry…just watch the youtube site below and listen to your own bellicose praising of the guy. By-the-way Harry, the date of your admiration speech was December 1, 2009, I believe it was a Tuesday.



ADEQ to play host to Hazardous Waste Workshop for Nogales

PHOENIX – Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that a free hazardous waste workshop for residents of Nogales and the surrounding area will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. until noon in Council Chambers of Nogales City Hall, 777 N. Grand Ave.

The session will cover Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and hazardous waste regulations, hazardous waste generator statutes, common hazardous wastes by auto repair facilities, what to expect when you are inspected, top 10 most common hazardous waste violations, and the new ADEQ hazardous waste inspection checklist. Workshop materials will be available in both English and Spanish.

Free parking is available at the site. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP with Eder Delgadillo of ADEQ at delgadillo.eder@azdeq.gov or (602) 771-4851.

“Workshops like these are a good collaboration between ADEQ and businesses to protect public health and teach the proper documentation for handling hazardous waste,” said ADEQ Director Henry Darwin. “We encourage everyone to attend who could benefit from this session.”

Williams Lions Club looking for secret Santas

Lions-Clube1WILLIAMS – The Williams Lions are again organizing the Toys for Kids project to provide toys for less fortunate children in the Williams area.

If you know of any children 12 or under who should be considered for the Toys for Kids project, please contact Lions member Jackie Haugen at 635-5242 with the child’s name, age, sex, phone contact and address to ensure they are added to the list.

Anyone wishing to provide a toy for a needy child can pick a card from a tree, purchase a toy suitable for the child selected, then return the un-wrapped gift to the location where they were selected. All gifts must be returned by December 17. Williams Lions Club members will deliver the gifts to children’s homes before Christmas.

Trees will be placed on Christmas trees at National Bank of Arizona, North Country Health Center, Canyon Vista Mall and the Williams Ranger District Office within the next week.

If you prefer to contribute a cash donation, contact Lion Jackie Haugen or any other Williams Lions Club member. Unwrapped gifts may be dropped off at any of the Toys for Kids locations.

71 Year Old Seligman Area Man Arrested for Homicide

hollman, richardFLAGSTAFF – On Saturday, November 15, 2014 at approximately 10:00 AM, Richard Hollman called and reported he had shot his wife at a home located west of Seligman, AZ . Arizona Department of Public Safety and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office officers had units closer to the area and responded to the scene first. They detained the suspect and confirmed the victim was deceased while Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were in route. The suspect in the case is identified as 71 year old Richard Hollman. The victim was later identified as 62 year old Carol Sheansy.

Detectives of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene and interviewed Hollman who implicated himself in the shooting death of Sheansy. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and located a weapon believed to be used in the homicide along with over 20 pounds of high grade marijuana.

Hollman is currently being held in the Coconino County Detention Facility on a First Degree Murder charge; his bond has been set at $1,000,000. This incident is still under investigation and further details are not available for release at this time.

Jack Hanna visits Bearizona Wildlife Park

WILLIAMS – Philanthropist and champion for conservation, Jack Hanna arrived at Bearizona this morning to begin filming for an upcoming television episode that will air on his popular “Into the Wild” series.

“We are thrilled that Jack, his family and crew have decided to include Bearizona as part of their Arizona adventure said CEO and owner Sean Casey.” Sean also stated that “Jack is legendary and has done so much throughout his career educating the public on animal conservation and we are happy to be a partner in his efforts.”

Jack likes being put to work and during his visit at the park, he will do just that. Jack will drive through with animal keepers helping them with their daily routine of caring for the animals. Jack will also hop on the “Wild Ride VIP Bus Tour” and view the park just as a regular visitor would.

Park officials are unsure on the episode’s air date but will post updates via social media.

Bearizona’s mission is to promote conservation through memorable and educational encounters with North American wildlife in a natural environment.

Someone has not forgotten thanksgiving

The Federated Community Church of Flagstaff at 400 W Aspen Ave has put up a banner reminding what the holiday is really all about.

The banner uses a quote from Psalm 107, Verse 1

O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Mohave County storing MRAP vehicles

No stranger to controversy, Arizona Representative Brenda Barton posted this picture of a mine-resistant ambush protection vehicle being stored in a county yard on Vanderslice in Mohave Valley on her Facebook page.

The heavily armored 4×4 “Cougar” manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems carries 2 crew and 4 troops. It can be outfitted with M240 7.62mm machine gun or M2 .50 cal machine gun. It has a top speed of 65 mph and an approximate range of 420 miles.

Since it is unclear what threat of invasion Nevada and California pose, the question Representative Barton directed to State Senator Kelli Ward was:

Just ask’n what’s this doing in the Mojave County road yard (right next door to the Sheriff’s compound)?

Senator Ward responded:

I have sent this picture to County personnel who would have the answer about what this is and I expect to know by Monday.

Frank Costigan Intimidating the public. I was a Cop for over 35 years, never once saw a need for military war equipment. This is beyond a police state mentality. The public is not the enemy, it’s the cops employer’s.

Roy Hagemyer This vehicle is sitting in the County yard on Vanderslice in Mohave Valley. I talked with an elected official, whom I will not name at this time, and he said it might belong to FEMA for monitoring a dam breakage…… But why this type of vehicle???

In a video published in April of this year, singer/songwriter and freedom advocate Gianaluca Zanna asked the same question. The video shows two armored vehicles stored by the Kingman Police Department.

Charles Black, veteran of Afghanistan and resident of Kingman, alleges that David Lux, Chief of Police of Kingman is, “…siding with federal agencies.”

Mr. Black said, “He’s fighting State bills going through right now that keep the feds out of our area, and out of our counties, our cities, our State. He wants money from the federal government and he wants federal support.”

He said that the city does not even own the vehicles, but are required to pay for maintenance on it. They are on loan from the federal government which can seize them at any time for their own operations. He mentioned the close proximity of Mohave County to the Bundy Ranch.

Bundy Ranch is in Nevada and the site on which the Bureau of Land Management sent in heavily armored troops to save the desert tortoise.
